Boys' Clothing

It's easy enough to find cute clothes for girls -- whether you are looking for really sweet or totally outrageous, it seems it exists somewhere, but finding a good selection of boys' clothes is not as easy. At Frog Tales and Fairy Dust our goal is to continue to expand and develop our line of boys' clothing to meet our customers' needs.

Most recently we have been asked to carry more preppy casuals. We searched for a quality line we would be able to bring to you at affordable prices. We are happy to say we found Original Penguin which now manufactures children's clothing and is owned by Perry Ellis.

Nothing excites us more than to hear about what are customers are looking for and then to bring it to them within that same season! So if you are hunting for something specific, whether it be for little boys or girls, just drop us an email. We'd love to hear from you!

Look for more information about the Original Penguin line in a blog later this week!

Totally Organic and Totally Cute!

Have you seen the organic stuff out there for little babies? Most of it comes in the color of that mixed rice cereal that infants often eat. While one piece of clothing in that color may be appealing, a whole wardrobe of it is a bit ho hum. At Frog Tales and Fairy Dust, we are just introducing a new line of organics by Sage Creek. They use 100% vegetable dye, but by using a special process, they get the dye to cling to the fabric. The result? Super fun, saturated colors with playful designs.

Why organic? It's pretty simple once you think about it. Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides or other harmful chemicals. This means that the end product is also pesticide and chemical free which is a purer way to cloth your little one. The big payoff is really in the environment. It takes roughly 1/3 of a pound of chemicals to grow enough non-organic cotton to make just one tee-shirt. That translates to a whole lot of toxicity being mixed in with our soil and being blown around in the air. If we want to make the Earth a better place for our children and our children's children, the best place to start is by buying organic.

Drop us an email and let us know how you feel about organic clothing.

Below are some fast facts about traditionally grown cotton and the effects on our environment:

•Cotton uses approximately 25% of the world's insecticides and more than 10% of the pesticides (including herbicides, insecticides, and defoliants.). (Allan Woodburn)

•Approximately 10% of all pesticides sold for use in U. S. agriculture were applied to cotton in 1997, the most recent year for which such data is publicly available. (ACPA)

•Eighty-four million pounds of pesticides were sprayed on the 14.4 million acres of conventional cotton grown in the U.S. in 2000 (5.85 pounds/ acre), ranking cotton second behind corn in total amount of pesticides sprayed. (USDA)

•Over 2.03 billion pounds of synthetic fertilizers were applied to conventional cotton the same year (142 pounds/acre), making cotton the fourth most heavily fertilized crop behind corn, winter wheat, and soybeans. (USDA)

•The Environmental Protection Agency considers seven of the top 15 pesticides used on cotton in 2000 in the United States as "possible," "likely," "probable," or "known" human carcinogens (acephate, dichloropropene, diuron, fluometuron, pendimethalin, tribufos, and trifluralin). (EPA)

•In 1999, a work crew re-entered a cotton field about five hours after it was treated with tribufos and sodium chlorate (re-entry should have been prohibited for 24 hours). Seven workers subsequently sought medical treatment and five have had ongoing health problems. (California DPR)

TuTu Cute!

She's your little girl and there's nothing more you'd like to do than to preserve her sweet innocence before you look back and she's all grown up.

If you're like me, picture day is a MAJOR deal. It's hard enough chasing a toddler around the photography studio without worrying about the pictures as well.

Haute Baby's Dreamsicle Tutu is perfect for so many occasions. Some may see it as the perfect spring portrait while others may envision their little girl adorned in these sweet sorbet colors for a birthday party or Easter Day.

Whatever the occasion, any little girl lucky enough to don this outfit will happily feel like a princess in this 100% cotton tank and short set with all of the right girly-girl touches.

We currently carry the Dreamsicle Tutu in sizes 12 months and 2T, but we are happy to order it for you in any size from 3 months to 6X so don't hesitate to email us by using the contact link or at frogtalesandfairydust@gmail.com.

It May Be Snowing Outside, But It's Springtime at Frog Tales and Fairy Dust!

Sure the weather is cold and blustery in the Northeast, but at Frog Tales and Fairy Dust, we are gearing up for the daffodils and forsythias! We have been busy shopping around for the cutest spring dresses at the best possible prices.

Our first shipment of dresses has just arrived and more are soon to follow. It's never too early to sit down with a nice mug of your favorite hot beverage and mull over the special occasions that will be here before you know it. Whether it be Easter, Passover, a birthday party, or a special family event, you want to plan ahead.

Major retailers have scaled back on their spring orders because of the failing economy and their poor fall season, so the spring selection of dresses for little girls just may not be available. At Frog Tales and Fairy Dust, our goal is to cater to our customer, so if you don't find it on our site, just drop us an email and we will do our best to get it for you.

Order early to reserve the style you like in the size you need!

Girls' Fashion Catches up to the Cupcake Trend

In 2000, Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City indulged in the confectionery offerings of the Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street in New York City. It makes perfect sense, then, that it wasn't long after that the small neighborhood bakery had lines stretching around the corner. Sometime after that, the cupcake started infiltrating just about every product line known to man. From stationary products by Harajuku to pastel panties by Juicy Couture which playfully say, "Cup Cake Couture" across the back, the cupcake motif has been slowly and steadily gaining momentum. It's now more than ever that we are seeing the famed confection adorning the wears of little girls from layette, toddler clothing and up.

At Frog Tales and Fairy Dust, we have discovered our own little slice of (cup) cake from England. Done in a not-too-sugary shade of delicious pink, Powell Craft's cupcake line of girls' clothing brings to the United States a hand-knit cupcake design that is sure to delight. There are several unique qualities to Powell Craft's take on the cupcake. They keep it simple and sweet (no pun intended) by using the cupcake as an accent, not an all-out blitz of the fashion icon. Powell Craft also maintains an obvious level of quality by using 100% cotton materials for all of its garments. And don't forget the homespun touch of the hand-knit cupcakes!

Frog Tales and Fairy Dust also carries the boys' sailboat line which is equally as precious.
