In 2000, Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City indulged in the confectionery offerings of the Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street in New York City. It makes perfect sense, then, that it wasn't long after that the small neighborhood bakery had lines stretching around the corner. Sometime after that, the cupcake started infiltrating just about every product line known to man. From stationary products by Harajuku to pastel panties by Juicy Couture which playfully say, "Cup Cake Couture" across the back, the cupcake motif has been slowly and steadily gaining momentum. It's now more than ever that we are seeing the famed confection adorning the wears of little girls from layette, toddler clothing and up.
At Frog Tales and Fairy Dust, we have discovered our own little slice of (cup) cake from England. Done in a not-too-sugary shade of delicious pink, Powell Craft's cupcake line of girls' clothing brings to the United States a hand-knit cupcake design that is sure to delight. There are several unique qualities to Powell Craft's take on the cupcake. They keep it simple and sweet (no pun intended) by using the cupcake as an accent, not an all-out blitz of the fashion icon. Powell Craft also maintains an obvious level of quality by using 100% cotton materials for all of its garments. And don't forget the homespun touch of the hand-knit cupcakes!
Frog Tales and Fairy Dust also carries the boys' sailboat line which is equally as precious.
